Lead Sickens 1,300 Children in China

China continues to have major environmental concerns as seen in today’s NY Times article Lead Sickens 1,300 Children in China. Having brought two small children to China, these stories concern me deeply, but I also interested in the responses of the local communities. The article states, “Angry residents of two Shaanxi villages were reported on Monday to have marched to the smelter, tearing down fences and attacking trucks before police officers restored order.” Environmental concerns has long been a galvanizing force for civic action.
