Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

Today is Sunday but you wouldn’t know it. In anticipation of the week-long national holiday coming up, this Sunday and the Sunday two weeks from today are work/school days. We gave Jie-jie the option of staying home but she preferred to go to school. It seemed like attendance was down a little but not significantly.

I love having a bicycle!. I zipped Jie-jie over to school this morning. The 8 minute walk became a 2-minute ride. Then Mei-mei and I rode to Gymboree for a music class. The 30+ minute walk is now a 15-minute ride. Instead of taking the most direct route, I head out the north gate of campus and ride down the riverfront promenade where there is a fabulous breeze, a great view of the skyline, people excercising, etc. etc.

In other news, I checked the weather forecast and today is predicted to be the hottest day of the next 10 (and let’s hope until next summer, whenever that descends upon us). While today is obediently fulfilling the promise of 97 degrees with a heat index of 104, Wednesday is forecast to be a downright chilly 84 degrees. Bring it on. I only hope the teachers at the kindergarten don’t scold me for not dressing my daughter warmly enough!

Lastly, I fully expect that the PRC 60th anniversary festivities this week will result in the loss of internet access at some point and for some unknown duration. Don’t be shocked if you do not hear from us for a few days. At the very least, we will be back in touch when we arrive in Singapore next weekend.
