Jason and I have both lost weight here in China. We attribute this to the smaller portion and plate sizes, family style eating, and the fact that Chinese food, although frequently cooked in oil, is not chock full of fat, butter, cheese, etc etc. Sweets are less sweet and, as a rule, food consists of fewer processed ingredients.
All this said, we are looking forward to getting home to our own cooking and our favorite restaurants. Yet, when I encounter articles like this, I begin to wonder if, perhaps, we should stick with our Asian diet. While we don’t generally eat at the chain restaurants listed in this article, you’ve got to wonder how much better it is at our little local spots. Ignorance may be bliss, but it isn’t health.
