A year without winter?

Jason recently asked me how I had found a year without winter. You see, as summer weather arrived in Vermont last year we got into the habit of commenting that it was the beginning of one long summer. As I have always experienced northern winters, I did not know how I would fare in what I imagine would be a year spent in shorts.

I told Jason that Guangzhou does have a winter – a wet, gray and, cool few months between mid December and March. Guangzhou winter feels quite a bit like March/April in Maine (except that few buildings have heat in GZ). I cannot say that I am a fan of winter here. As for a year without winter, however, I think I might not mind it every now and then. In Singapore I read that the average temperature is between 80 and 85 all year. Might not be too bad even if I would miss the snow and my wool socks!
