Summer’s death throes

I have returned from a wonderful week spent on Peaks Island with family. Sometime during that week August arrived and already I see that my summer is drawing to a close. What had earlier been relatively unmolested writing time is being swallowed up by meetings, preparation for the upcoming academic year, and the wholly unenjoyable machinations of the academic job market. And also, the Montpelier public pool is closing soon.

So, although summer weather persists, autumn routine threatens. I am not ready
